Scottish Jellyfish Sightings 2015

According to the Marine Conservation Society, our smacks of jellyfish 'should not be ignored.'

There have been reports of high numbers this summer off the UK. However, you might also want to read this Guardian article by Steve Backshall.

I saw the jellyfish in this post when I was in Scotland at the end of June 2015 and have logged my sightings with the MSC

Cyanea lamarcki (Blue jellyfish), Campbeltown Harbour, Kintyre, Scotland (June 2015)

They are strange but beautiful. Their colors are pretty in the water! Great shots, Caroline! Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

Jellyfish loom large in my childhood as being these inanimate blubbery terrors of the beach, lying there, certain to cause instant death if you touched them. Like how all dogs in Europe carry Rabies and have only one thing on their minds - biting your child behind with their foaming jaws.

These are fascinating sightings! I just never thought about jellyfish being in a colder climate like Scotland. Wonderful photos!
